We're a Two Car Family Again!

We'd been saving for a second car since I lost my company car in 2007. We spent the past two days outdoors at an auto auction, and that time was well spent! We got a great deal on this 2005 Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab!

I took the second photo at the auction, seconds after we won the bid. I was all bundled up: snow pants, snow coat, boots, hoodie, mittens. It was 33 degrees out, icy, and windy. Sorry the third photo is blurry, but you can see just how big the truck is!

We can't drive it until we get a license plate for it tomorrow, but we sure are happy! Soon, there'll be no more, "Are you working tomorrow? OK, I'll tell them I'm not available, then."

I weighed in this morning at 155.6.

Keep Trim Eating

I am almost 50 years old, but in 2011/2012 I lost 90 pounds with daily walking and the eating philosophy that Dr Tarnower laid out in his book, "The Complete Scarsdale Medical Diet Plus Dr Tarnower's Lifetime Keep Slim Program" (SMD) This is a diet where I usually lose a pound a day.

If you want to lose some weight, you can go back to the beginning of my blog and copy what I did. I blogged everything I ate every day and how much exercise I got each day.

I recommend you also get Dr Tarnower's book, if you go on this diet. The book explains many little details on how to get the diet to work. These are things that we who habitually overeat just don't think about. For just one example, salad dressing is really fattening.

The Scarsdale Medical Diet resembles the (newer) Paleo Diet: mostly lean meat and vegetables, limited dairy, limited grains, very limited sauces, fruit and other high calorie items.

While losing weight, the Scarsdale Diet works on a "two weeks on, two weeks off" basis. The "two weeks off" of "Keep Trim Eating" are time for your body to get out of starvation mode, and to practice keeping the weight off. In many ways, keeping the weight off is the hardest part.

Now that I am at my goal weight of under 150 pounds, the recent entries in this blog are mostly about keeping the weight off. I've read many wishes that Dr Tarnower had detailed what to eat during keep trim eating periods. I hope this blog helps!

I do take a daily multivitamin plus iron. I only note my beverages if they have calories in them. Most of the time I drink water or unsweetened black coffee/tea. I quit drinking diet soda January 8, 2013.
