I'm a Hippie Once More - Refusing to Participate in Hatred

The conflict I am against now is the "us and them war" that agitators keep trying to stir up. Rich vs poor, black vs white, men vs women, Republicans vs Democrats... I am going to stop participating in the "us and them war." I wish everyone would. I am disgusted with all of it: Facebook "friends" telling me I'm an idiot because I disagree with their politics, talking heads on TV saying how evil so and so is for disagreeing with the TV station's politics, gossip rags quoting people out of context to stir up hatred...

Listen to my theme song and read the lyrics. The only thing I would change is to capitalize the word You.

It's about refusing to participate in hatred.

The song is "I'd Love to Change the World" by the band Ten Years After from their 1971 album "A Space in Time." They understand that taxing the rich to feed the poor is only going to make it so there are no rich people anymore. In 1971 they get that. Yet, they are hippies. It's not about hating on rich people (or white people, or Republicans, or Democrats, or anyone). It's about refusing to participate in hatred, refusing to be part of the insidious campaign to divide and conquer us.

I lost 2 pounds yesterday!

I weighed in at 155 this morning. I walked my mile yesterday for the first time in a week, because of being sick last week. Here is what I ate yesterday and lost 2 pounds of fat from Christmas and Thanksgiving rich eating:

Special K and organic soy milk
El Monterey bean burrito with lots of salsa
Leftover baked chicken, carrots and onion
Hamburger patty, barbecue sauce, raw baby carrots

AND, today is day two with no diet soda. I survived the day yesterday, so I plan on having no diet soda again today. One day at a time ought to do it for me.

148.6 Garmin Montana GPS Photo Quality

We had so much fun taking photos with our new Garmin Montana 650T GPS! Its camera has auto-focus and is 5 megapixels. It automatically geotags your photos. The whole thing is waterproof, designed for hiking. Of course, it is a GPS, so it has pre-loaded topographical maps and does all you expect from a navigation device. Because of this, we did not expect the photos to come out this gorgeous.

Look how well it adjusted for the bright background on the photo of me in the red shirt, so that just enough light fell on my face. (I'm holding a rock that Scott thought looked like an egg.) Look how well it exposed both the far backdrop and Scott's face, on the photo he took of himself. Look how awesomely focused the closeup of the flower is!

This thing takes better photos than my (2 year old) dedicated Fujifilm JX250 digital camera does, and it is all just point and click. There are no manual adjustments to make on the Garmin Montana 650T camera. We are very pleasantly surprised to have gotten a new full-blown digital camera along with our new toy.

Yesterday I weighed in at 149.4, and had lost 2 pounds since the day before. I had walked 1.3 miles. The day before I had eaten Special K and organic soy milk, carrots and 2 tablespoons Parmesan spinach dip, a salmon patty and more raw baby carrots.

Today I weighed in at 148.6, having lost .8 pounds yesterday, when I also walked 1.3 miles for exercise. Yesterday was church potluck, so I did really well. Here is what I ate yesterday:

2 bowls of Special K and organic soy milk

Potatoes au gratin with ham chunks
Macaroni and cheese with chili spices and black beans
Rice and fruit salad
Ham and cheese wrap sandwich
brownie

Hamburger patty grilled outside on our BBQ, enjoying the last of the summer weather
Raw baby carrots
1/4 cup peanut M&Ms

145.2 At Goal!

I lost 2 pounds yesterday, and I am at my goal of 145! I did not expect to lose two pounds, so this is a very pleasant surprise. I took these pictures just now, this morning, to commemorate reaching my weight loss goal!

I walked my dog in the rain for 30 minutes yesterday. So like Spokane, it was 70 F and sunny on Sunday. I was out walking the dog in a tank top, soaking up sun. And then yesterday it was 44 F again and raining. I wore one of our rain ponchos so my pants wouldn't get soaking wet. It really knows how to rain here in Washington.

Here is what I ate yesterday, and lost two pounds along with walking 30 minutes:

Small bowl of Special K and organic soy milk
Baked chicken and steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots
Small hamburger patty, 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce, steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots

These khakis are some work pants I picked up at the Good Will Store a few weeks ago with some of the money from returning my St Patrick's Day dress. I think they cost me all of $6, and they fit perfectly. This is the first time I have worn them.

Joan Jett Pictures!

My Weight: 197 I lost 2 pounds yesterday rocking out at the "Joan Jett and the Blackhearts" concert. I know Joan is older than me. She was already out of school and touring in 1979 when I was in high school and snuck in as 21 to see her perform at Madam Wong's West. She was more animated last night than she was back then! She jumped around so much this was the only clear picture out of the 240 I shot.

Joan Jett's music was too adult for this family crowd of 6,000 at the Spokane County Fair 9/15/2011, but they were dancing in the aisles. She knows how to rock. She inspired me. If she can be 50+ and this active and looking this fantastic, then I can, too! On Joan Jett's Facebook page, I asked her how she stays so trim and gorgeous. I really wonder about Joan Jett's diet and what exercise she gets besides being an animal in her concert appearances. I'm not holding my breath for an answer, though, heh!

Joan Jett mentioned K-Stew last night. Joan asked the crowd how many of us had seen the movie about Joan's first band, The Runaways. Almost half the crowd cheered. Joan then said, "Then you heard Kristen sing my song!" So, Kristen Stewart sang at least one of those songs herself; I heard it from Joan Jett's mouth.

What impresses me most is how much Joan Jett's figure resembles Kristen Stewart's, even though Joan Jett is at least 30 years older. Joan's voice also sounded just like it did 30 years ago. She looks and sounds like she resisted drugs and smoking. Rock on, Joan Jett!

Back to the two pounds I lost yesterday! Here is what I ate:
Breakfast:
3 cups of black coffee, unsweetened
1 cup of Special K
1 cup vanilla soy milk
1/2 cup diced strawberries
Lunch:
2 cans of Diet Coke
7 Kirkland beef meatballs with
2 tablespoons habanero pineapple sauce
1 cup of broccoli, steamed
Dinner
32 ounces of Walmart Sparkling Lemonade / Cherry Limeade
1 cup of carrots, steamed
Qdoba naked pork BBQ burrito with no rice, no beans, corn salsa and tomato salsa (naked means no tortilla)
